PRIVATE PRACTICE

Support for High-Responsibility Lives

For executives, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and other high-achieving adults navigating complex personal and professional lives.

You may be highly capable, accustomed to solving problems, and trusted with significant responsibility. Even so, there are times when a thoughtful, confidential outside perspective can help you understand something more clearly, approach it differently, or make a meaningful change.

A private space to focus on what needs your attention.

People with demanding lives do not always seek support because something is falling apart. Often, they want help with one particular issue: a difficult decision, a relationship that is not working, a recurring pattern, a significant transition, or the sense that something could be better.

You may function well in most areas of your life while still experiencing anxiety, relationship strain, emotional fatigue, unresolved experiences, or questions about what you want next.

Our work offers a place to step outside your usual roles, think with greater clarity, and attend to parts of your life that may not have space anywhere else.

REASONS PEOPLE COME

The concern is not always visible from the outside

Pressure & overthinking

A mind that rarely turns off, difficulty resting, perfectionism, persistent self-pressure, or the feeling that every decision carries significant consequences.

Relationships & intimacy

Recurring conflict, communication difficulties, loneliness within a relationship, infidelity, divorce, difficulty being vulnerable, being a present parent, or uncertainty about what you need from the people closest to you.

Patterns that keep repeating

Reactions, defenses, family dynamics, or past experiences that continue to shape how you lead, connect, make decisions, and protect yourself.

Transitions & decisions

Changes in leadership, career, family, health, relationships, or identity that require more than a pros-and-cons list.

MY APPROACH

Thoughtful, direct, and deeply human

I have worked as a clinical psychologist for more than two decades. My approach is active and collaborative. I do more than listen quietly or offer general encouragement. I help you recognize patterns, understand what may be happening beneath the surface, and consider new ways of responding.

My doctoral training in clinical psychology allows me to look beyond the immediate problem to understand how your history, relationships, personality, coping patterns, and current environment may be shaping what is happening now. For executives and other high-responsibility professionals, this means we can address the challenge in front of you without losing sight of the larger picture.

Some people come seeking psychotherapy, while others are looking for psychologically informed guidance around leadership, relationships, important decisions, transitions, or the demands of a high-responsibility life.

Your competence, ambition, and independence are not problems to eliminate. We consider when these qualities serve you, when they become costly, and how you can use them with greater freedom and choice.

For clients who wish, our work can also make room for questions of meaning, spirituality, cultural identity, and the inner life.

ABOUT DR. DEGOOD

Experience that extends beyond the therapy room

My work spans psychotherapy, clinical leadership, healthcare, education, research, and organizational consulting. I have founded and led clinical practices, taught graduate and professional students, conducted and published research, advised leaders, and facilitated groups and conversations within organizations.

I have also worked with executives, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and public figures, and understand the distinct pressures that can accompany high-responsibility and highly visible lives. I recognize the importance of privacy, discretion, and having a confidential space where you do not need to manage how you are perceived.

This breadth of experience informs my perspective. The focus is entirely on you, not your title, productivity, organization, or public role.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to be an executive or healthcare professional?

No. I work with adults from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. My practice is especially suited to people navigating significant responsibility, complexity, ambition, or visibility, whether or not they identify as a high achiever.

Is this psychotherapy or coaching?

I offer psychotherapy as well as psychologically informed guidance for executives, entrepreneurs, and other professionals navigating leadership, decision-making, relationships, transitions, and the demands of high-responsibility roles.

The nature of our work depends on what you are seeking. Psychotherapy allows us to address emotional, relational, historical, and psychological concerns in greater depth. For those seeking a more focused professional consultation, our work may center on current challenges, decisions, interpersonal dynamics, leadership, or navigating a particular transition.

Do you offer concierge services?

Yes. A limited concierge option may be available for clients seeking greater access, responsiveness, and scheduling flexibility. These arrangements are highly individualized and offered only when the client’s needs and circumstances are well suited to this level of support. I work with no more than one or two concierge clients at a time. Availability, services, and fees are discussed individually during the consultation.

Do I need to be in crisis to begin therapy?

No. Many people seek therapy because they want focused assistance with a particular concern before it becomes more disruptive. You may be functioning well and still recognize that an issue, decision, relationship, or pattern deserves thoughtful attention.

Do you accept insurance?

No. This is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance, allowing for greater discretion and privacy in our work together.
